So did anyone ever discover who was behind Neurocam and what the point was?

It's true. I have received my first assignment. If I may appeal to the seasoned experience of the Neuro-veterans out there, how would you advise a neophyte such as myself? I don't know/care if everyone gets the same initial assignment so kindly refrain from specifics, be broad with your advice.

Introduction to Neurocam, or Why the Fool is Wisest of Them All

I’ve no clue how you discovered Neurocam. Maybe you heard the Cammers blathering about your neighborhood or, perhaps, you found some of their advertisements nestled in a volume of “The Magus.”

If you would ask me, I’d tell you that I found them while at work. Yup, I was making my usual serpentine movements throughout the internet and I discovered them in a section on secret societies. I have to be honest with you; initially I spent more time thinking about the Mayday Mystery—a riddle even more engrossing than Neurocam. But after being thoroughly nauseated by the interdisciplinary demands made by the former, I chose to pursue Neurocam. I read blog after blog of peoples’ speculations on them, but nowhere did I find any compelling answers. What I found instead was mite bit suspicious, but not enough to dissuade me from venturing therein.

I’m sure many of you have theories mulling in your head regarding this enigma. None of these are helped by the disclaimer on the site which seems to disavow being the very things that come to mind when thinking about them. (A great marketing gimmick, but I wonder how true or untrue the statement really is.) Not that I mean to imply that the group is a modern incarnation of the vaunted Rosicrucians or keepers of some great arcane secret. (I really doubt that.)

I chose as my operative name “Casaubon” who was the central protagonist in Umberto Eco’s seminal book “Foucault’s Pendulum.” This book is a mentally demanding orgy written in a truly Post-Modern fashion. I have chosen the following proof text as an explanation for why I’ve joined the Cam:

"Not that the incredulous person doesn't believe in anything. It's just that he doesn't believe in everything…incredulity doesn’t kill curiosity; it encourages it.”

Incredulity, my darlings, is why I have decided to join. Incredulity is not skepticism—but an attitude of wariness towards metanarratives. (Read “The Postmodern Condition”)

It was said of the Fool that he was the wisest of them all; at least that’s what many students of the Tarot believe. There are many reasons one can provide in defense or opposition to this idea, but I’ll keep it simple. The fool is lead by his curiosity to many an interesting discovery. Sometimes these can come at great cost, but what of it? Is not the search for reality something worth pursuing? Now, I don’t expect to encounter the Ultimate in Neurocam, but maybe I’ll just find another place where the Presence is not found. And who knows? Maybe I have some fun in the process.
